How'd I get started in BJJ:
A mate of mine talked me in to trying out Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in January 2009 , he had just got back from Brazil and was going to the GoldCoast to train at his old gym. I tagged along and fell in love with it. Although I was a sweating dry heaving mess on the ground I knew I had discovered the sport for me...

Why do I blog:
At first it was a way to keep a journal of my training, but it turned in to more of me philosophising and even stroking my own ego a bit. I try to post my thoughts on what i'm experiencing in jiu-jitsu at the time and do it with brutal honesty. As I grow and change as a jiu-jitsu practitioner, this blog grows and changes with me. I hope to be a positive influence on anyone who stumbles across my blog or trains with me. I really want to help spread the awesomeness that is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

What keeps me on the mat:
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has given me a new found passion and focus. By competing at least 2-3 times a year, not only has my jiu-jitsu game improved but I feel that I have grown and continue to grow as an individual. I truly believe BJJ has helped me become a better person in all areas of my life. It has provided me with a healthy activity that challanges me and continually gives me so many new and exciting experiences.
I've become a Jiu-Jitsu nerd, everything I do now revolves around Jiu-Jitsu and I have recently started to teach a small class in my home town. Being the first 100% BJJ gym in my area. I love introducing people to the art and watching them fall in love with it and develop as people on and off the mat.

Last Word:
I'm extremely grateful to the team mates and coaches that I have trained with since I started my jiu-jitsu journey. With out them I would not have been able to discover the true beauty of this art and make some life long mates.
